Folded Light Grove: A Walk-Through Interactive Public Art Landmark

Folded Light Grove is a customizable walk-through public art concept by Guangdong Alisn Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd. (AlisnArt). It combines modular perforated metal forms, integrated warm-white and RGBW lighting, and optional proximity or touch sensing for waterfronts, plazas, cultural tourism destinations and commercial districts.

Project status: Concept Design / Customizable Proposal. This is not a completed client project. Factory and installation images are proposed process visualizations, not documentary photographs.

Project Snapshot and Buyer Fit

This proposal is for project owners, destination operators, developers, architects, landscape designers, contractors and procurement teams seeking a day-and-night public landmark that visitors can enter, photograph and gather around.

Each form can be divided into transportable modules with an internal frame, folded perforated cladding, concealed lighting, accessible electrical components and site-specific base connections. Final dimensions, foundations, wind design, electrical loads and programming are developed after site information is confirmed.

Design and Visitor Experience

The visitor is intended to move inside the artwork rather than view it only from behind a barrier. Taller folded forms establish the landmark from a distance, while gaps between modules create walk-through passages, framed views and gathering points without blocking the main circulation route.

Daylight, Night Behaviour and Interaction Logic

By day, perforated surfaces catch reflections from the sky, water, trees, buildings and visitors. At night, concealed warm-gold light with controlled coral and rose accents reveals the folded depth without washing the whole plaza in one colour.

Optional sensing can work in zones. A visitor approaching or touching a selected area can brighten local panels or pass a short light pulse to another module. The artwork remains visually complete when no one is interacting with it.

Proposed Materials and Fabrication Strategy

The proposed construction uses an engineered internal frame with folded perforated metal panels fixed to removable support zones. Stainless steel is suitable where reflection and surface durability are priorities; aluminium can be evaluated when lower weight is more important.

Lighting channels, drivers and signal components should remain accessible from protected maintenance panels. Final frame sizes, panel thicknesses, welds, fasteners, anchors and base plates require site-specific engineering and local-code review.

Proposed Fabrication Visualizations

Site Planning, Safety and Maintenance

The final layout must preserve pedestrian routes, emergency access and maintenance access. Reachable edges must be safe, and touchable surfaces require checks for temperature, gaps and finish quality. Engineering should address local wind and seismic requirements, foundations, drainage, electrical isolation, grounding, lightning protection, slip resistance and inspection access.

Suitable Locations and AlisnArt Delivery Scope

The arrangement can be linear, clustered or dispersed for waterfront promenades, civic plazas, cultural tourism routes, mixed-use districts, resorts, gardens and festival sites. AlisnArt can support design refinement, material selection, structural and electrical coordination, lighting integration, control programming, factory pre-assembly, export packing, installation drawings and agreed installation guidance.

Quotation Information Buyers Should Prepare

  • Site plan, available area, target height and key viewing directions.
  • Project location, wind and climate conditions, and power supply.
  • Required interaction, operating hours and maintenance expectations.
  • Target opening date, budget range, delivery destination and installation responsibility.

FAQ: Folded Light Grove Interactive Public Art

What is Folded Light Grove?

Folded Light Grove is a walk-through interactive public art concept made from folded perforated metal forms, with optional proximity and touch-triggered lighting.

Where can the installation be used?

The concept can be adapted for urban plazas, waterfront promenades, cultural tourism destinations, commercial districts, resorts and festival sites.

How does the interaction work?

Sensors can divide the installation into zones. As people approach, enter or touch selected areas, local lighting can brighten, change colour or pass a light pulse to another module. Final programming depends on the site and operating plan.

What materials are proposed?

Perforated stainless steel is the preferred outer finish; aluminium may be evaluated where lower weight is important. The internal frame, panel thickness, fasteners and finish are selected during site-specific engineering.

Can it be manufactured in modules for export?

Yes. The concept is intended for modular fabrication, factory pre-assembly and export packing. Module size and connections must be coordinated with container limits, road access, crane capacity and the installation method.

What information is needed for a quotation?

Send the site plan, target dimensions, location, wind conditions, power supply, required interaction, installation responsibility, target opening date and budget range.

Is this a completed project?

No. Folded Light Grove is a Concept Design / Customizable Proposal. Gallery images are concept views or proposed fabrication and installation visualizations, not documentary photographs of a completed project.

Request a site-specific concept and feasibility review

Send Vicky your site photos or plan, available dimensions, visitor goal, target opening date, budget range, delivery destination and installation responsibility. AlisnArt can review project fit and define the next design, engineering and quotation inputs.
