Tidal Eye — Waterfront Public Art & Light Sculpture Design Concept
潮汐之眼 · ALISN named concept study
Tidal Eye is an ALISN public art concept for a waterfront plaza. Layered gold-toned ribs and transparent cyan-blue panels form an asymmetric sweep: a low edge extends along the promenade, while the opposite end curls upward around an open centre. The design explores how a large sculpture can frame a view rather than close it off.
Approved original Tidal Eye hero visual. The gold-and-blue design DNA and full asymmetric outline are retained.
A form shaped around the waterfront
The central opening leaves the distant water, hills and buildings visible. An adjacent reflecting pool creates a second reading of the curved outline. The low left sweep and high right curl establish a broad, recognisable silhouette without filling the complete view corridor.
The design is intended to be experienced from several distances. Its overall movement is visible across the plaza, while the repeated ribs and transparent panels offer more detail from nearby pedestrian routes. Any real adaptation would need the actual shoreline, circulation, view corridors, utilities and public clearances.

Daytime sculpture, nighttime light
The daytime studies rely on material colour, daylight and reflection. The night concept introduces warm-white lighting along selected curves and cyan accents associated with the blue panels. Lighting output, optics, controls, electrical access and environmental limits would be developed for the actual site.
No interactive or moving mechanism has been specified for Tidal Eye. The current concept should not be described as sensor-controlled, kinetic or performance-verified.
Rendered visitors provide visual scale only; final dimensions are not specified.
Lighting intent only; output, optics, controls and environmental limits remain subject to site-specific development.
Design DNA and material intent
The concept is defined by a broad asymmetric spiral, an open centre, gold-toned repeated ribs and cyan transparent panels. These are visual intentions, not certified product specifications. A potential development route could study an engineered steel structure with formed metal cladding and mechanically retained transparent coloured panels.
The sketch retains the low left sweep, high right curl and open centre.
Visualised ribs, panels and joints; no material grade, panel thickness or durability result is claimed.
Aluminium or stainless-steel cladding, and acrylic or other suitable transparent panel systems, are options for review—not confirmed specifications. Technical development would need to address structural loads, foundations, panel retention, weathering, drainage, thermal movement, electrical access and maintenance. Physical samples would be required to assess colour and transparency; renderings do not certify optical performance.
Proposed modular fabrication and installation path
The preliminary illustrations explore dividing the form into transportable curved modules, workshop checks and staged site assembly. They do not define final module sizes, weights, lifting points, crane capacity or temporary works. Those decisions require site information, a coordinated fabrication model and an engineered installation plan.
Proposed pre-assembly logic only; not proof that Tidal Eye has been manufactured.
Proposed staged assembly only; lifting engineering, temporary works and site safety are not defined.

Questions about developing a similar artwork
Is Tidal Eye a completed installation?
No. The images show a design concept and illustrative production and installation scenarios. No completed, commissioned, awarded or constructed project is claimed.
Can this design be adapted to a different waterfront?
It can be developed around a different site. The shoreline, available space, pedestrian routes, views, climate and local technical requirements should inform the adaptation.
What materials would be used?
The visual intent is gold-toned metal and clear cyan-blue panels. Final structural, cladding and panel materials would be selected during technical development and physical sample review.
Are the dimensions and price fixed?
No final dimensions or price have been established. A useful budget discussion needs a site brief, approximate scale, material expectations, delivery destination and scope responsibilities.
How would the sculpture be transported?
The proposed direction is modular fabrication and numbered assembly. Final splits, protection and packaging depend on the engineered model, transport constraints and approved installation sequence.
